Emigration to America

The way of life was still simple and poor, primarily in the fishing villages and in the small farmings in the heath.
But permanently it worked uphill. Many Swedes drew, to, despite the bad conditions of life late also Poles which left even worse conditions. The younger Bornholmer travelled for this in a large number to the USA now, whole families emigrated at many places, and there is hardly a bornholmisches home which has uncles and aunts or other members in the USA and still does not stand in contact with them.
